following list shows the locations, identified so far, where the original
Icelandic immigrants to North America settled. The
date shown in the “Year” column indicates when the first group arrived at
that location. This list of locations
has been taken from a number of sources and may contain errors and/or
omissions. You are invited to suggest
changes to the information shown here.
If you do, please cite the source of your information so that we can
assure as much accuracy as is possible when conflicts occur. Some settlements may be missing from the
list and some in the list may not have been original Icelandic
settlements. We will try to have a
finalized list by the end of 2009. These settlement locations have been mapped and may be viewed on the
Internet by clicking on the link shown under “Maps” in the index to the
