General
Joyce lives in Kitsilano, a community in Vancouver bordering the ocean with a panoramic view of the North Shore mountains. Now retired, she enjoys watercolour pencil artwork, sketching and writing. An activist with all levels of government, her main concerns are the environment, health care, social and women’s issues and world peace.

Family
For 17 years Joyce was married to Art Trimble, a salesperson for construction supplies, a collector of coins and paper money and a thoroughbred racing fan and owner. They travelled the West Coast from Seattle to San Diego, gravitating to race tracks. On an extended trip to Australia, they drove from Sydney to Melbourne. Their destination was the Melbourne Cup (Art’s dream), the biggest race of the year. The following year 1986, Art died after a lengthy illness, heart disease, his dream fulfilled.
Family members are located in BC, Alberta and Bulgaria. Her 90 year old mother lives independently in Vancouver, as does nephew Rick. In Cranbrook are her sister Violet and husband Rolf, in Calgary are nephews Rod and Todd and in Sophia are nephew Trent and wife Erin.

Work History After successfully completing an Executive Secretarial Course, her first job was with Canadian National Railways, Freight Rates Department in Winnipeg. She was then employed in a variety of office positions in Prince Rupert and Vancouver. Returning to school in 1991 as a mature student, she received a diploma for a Medical Office Assistant and this led to positions in health care

Education
A proverbial student, in the 1990s she enrolled in classes for acrylic painting, colour, fabric collage, feldenkrais and yoga. Her passion for learning continued as she pursued personal growth, becoming a student of life.

Hobbies and Interests An avid environmentalist, she supports the David Suzuki Foundation and her concerns with women’s issues have led her to support Women Against Violence Against Women.
