Ken was born in Ocean Falls, BC on April 21 1937. The family relocated to Elrose, SK where Ken started school.

In 1944, the family moved again to a dairy farm, 3½ miles East of Stonewall, MB and Ken attended the Best School at the corner of Highways 7 and 67. Later, the farm was sold and the family moved to Stonewall, where Ken completed his education.

Ken worked for Manitoba Hydro for 35 years, retiring in 1992. His sister, Florence Hamel, lives in Ottawa; brother Joe works in Winnipeg and is in the process of moving to Sanford, MB; and sister, Evelyn Pattison, lives in Barrhead, Scotland.

Over the years, Ken has organized a number of reunions, including:

  1. Highway 6 & 7 Intermediate Hockey League
  2. Stonewall Flyers 30 year Hockey Reunion (1967 - 1997)
  3. Stonewall Collegiate Reunion in 1994 (which was attended by over 800 former students and spouses).

Ken is presently (August 2005) working on two get-togethers: the Chanin Family reunion on August 1 2005 to be held at the Quarry Park rain shelter; and a get-together for Barry and Genevieve Jackson on August 27 2005 at the Lions' Manor in the multi-purpose room.

Ken believes that we should have a 50th anniversary reunion of the 1956-57 Stonewall Collegiate Institute gang, sometime during the year 2006-2007. Let him know what you think of the idea!
