Jubilee Celebration Tea

On Saturday September 15th Winnipegosis celebrated Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.

The Elks Hall was decked out with Union Jack flags and pin wheel table settings were laid with white table cloths and china tea cups. The tea included a variety of delicious pin wheel sandwiches and dainties. The hall was decorated by the Winnipegosis Historical Society and the tea was served by the Ladies of the Royal Purple.

The event also included a showing of Royal DVD's and several display tables. Participants were encouraged to wear hats and dress appropriate for the occassion. Those who didn't have a hat could choose from the one's set out by Loretta Dyck and kindly donated for the occassion.

The event started with a mix and mingle and was followed by the honouring of our veterans; those who have served our community for 60 years; and couples who celebrate are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversay.

This Jubilee Celebration Tea, which was partially funded by the Celebrate Canada - Jubilee Fund, was a special event that we will all remember for a long time to come.
